Skills

Writing

I have experience in writing for academia, both in law and politics. My experience covers case studies, book reviews, essays, and research papers. I also have experience in writing descriptively, analytically, persuasively, and critically. Examples can be found under the 'Academic Work' tab.

Self Management

I am highly self-motivated, having the ability to set tasks and see them through to completion to a high standard. This is reinforced by my time-management and organisational skills, which is essential for completing PhD research alongside my teaching responsibilities, and council duties.

Microsoft Office

I am proficient in using the core Microsoft Office programs of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher. As a student, I was required to produce graphs in Excel to analyse data in my Bachelor's dissertation. Through my teaching, I have been able to produce PowerPoint presentations that can retain engagement, whilst conveying important themes and ideas. Through my political work I became familiar with Publisher, as this program was used to create electoral literature.

Research

I have experience of completing both political and legal academic research. Utilising both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, having used surveys and interviews to collect the views of participants. I also have experience of completing desk based research through analysing legislation, academic books and articles, philosophical writings, and polling data.

Referencing

I have experience in using four referencing systems: APA, Harvard, OSCOLA, and Oxford footnotes.

Languages

Through the use of Duolingo, and other language learning apps, I am currently learning Italian, and sharpening up previous learning of Latin, French, and Spanish. I aim to become comfortable in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in all four languages.

I aim to take CEFR certified examinations once I am proficient enough in each language.

Teaching

I have experience in teaching in higher education, across politics and international relations. Specifically in the fields of war studies, and national security. My teaching experience includes leading both lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials. More information can be found under the 'Teaching' tab.

Critical Thinking

Through my varied experiences in academia and the world of politics, I have been able to observe the world through both theoretical and practical lenses. These observations enabled me to analyse theoretical and practical problems, and strategise methods to solve these problems effectively.

Social Media

My main experience with social media has been through the creation of political and electoral adverts. Mainly through utilising Facebook and Instagram's audience settings, and specifically targetting political ads to certain demographics.

My experience in social media marketing has also led me to understand the rules and regulations, of both social media companies and government, in relation to electoral finances and online election adverts.
