Summer 2022

During Summer 2022, I supervised three Nuffield Research Placements:

'To what extent does race affect everyday place meanings? A case study of the African diasporic community in the UK.'

'How have societal attitudes changed towards the LGBT community from the Stonewall Riots to Same Sex Marriage within the UK?'

'How have the success rates in IVF changed since 1990: A case study of the UK.'

All three projects were student-led, with my role as supervisor being to advise on structure, presentation, and writing. The placements also provided a great opportunity for me to impart knowledge to Year 12 students of the expectations of undergraduate students from universities. I believe that this has helped in their writing, critical thinking, and presentation skills, which will benefit them when they attend university.

The research placements also provided me with the opportunity to develop my skills as an academic project supervisor. I am proud to say that all three students passed their placements, with good feedback from examiners.
